Cessna 180 crashed near Highway 4

A single engine Cessna 180 crashed near Highway 4 in the RM of St. Andrews.

On March 16, 2010, at approximately 3:25pm, Selkirk RCMP received a report of a plane that had crashed in a ditch near Highway 4 in the RM of St. Andrews on the west side of the Red River.

A single engine Cessna 180, with only the pilot on board, had taken off from an airstrip located on Breezy Point Road. Early indications are that the plane may have sustained a mechanical failure.

The pilot was not injured and was cleared on scene by attending paramedics.

The exact cause of the crash is not known at this time and the Transportation Safety Board is assisting in the investigation.

Traffic along Highway 4 between Highway 9 and the west side of the bridge crossing the Red River was reduced to one lane but all lanes have since been re-opened.
