On March 28, 2010 at about 3am, Headingly RCMP, local EMS and Emergency Services, responded to a single vehicle rollover on the South Perimeter Highway.

Investigation revealed that a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling eastbound on Highway 100 approximately 2 kilometres east of Oakbluff, when the driver lost control of the vehicle striking the median divider. The vehicle then rolled over, finally coming to rest on its roof and catching on fire.

The driver, a 23-year-old male from the RM of Rockwood, was assisted from his vehicle by a passing motorist, before it became completely engulfed in flames. He was then transported to Health Sciences Centre by ambulance for treatment. The driver was reported to be in stable condition with undetermined injuries.

Fire fighters were able to extinguish the burning vehicle and Department of Highways attended to ensure the highway was cleared of debris and safe for travel.

There were no other persons in the vehicle, no other vehicles involved and no other injuries were reported.

Police continue to investigate.
