At approximately 1pm, on March 28, 2010, Spruce Plains RCMP along with Minnedosa Fire and Emergency personnel responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Highway 10, 3 miles south of Minnedosa.
A 2004 Ford Explorer, with five occupants, was traveling southbound and lost control, subsequently rolling into the west ditch. Two teenage males had been ejected and it appeared they may not have been wearing seatbelts. A third teenage male was treated at Minnedosa hospital and released. The driver and front passenger in the vehicle were not injured.
Two teenage males were transferred to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, one of them, a 13-year-old male, passed away on the morning of March 29, 2010. The second male remains in stable condition with non life threatening injuries.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor and the names of the occupants are not being released pending notification of the family. All of the persons are from the Dauphin Grandview area, four are related and one is a friend.
Investigation is continuing and no charges are being contemplated at this time.
