Manitoba’s Parks Reservation Service will start taking campsite bookings starting at 7:30 a.m., Monday, April 5, 2010, Conservation Minister Bill Blaikie announced.

“While government offices will be closed, the reservation service will be open so that our camping customers can book their summer vacations and weekend getaways once again on the first Monday in April,” said Blaikie.  “Entry to provincial parks is free once again this year and no park vehicle passes are required.  People can visit more often and create new memories, especially this year, as Manitoba celebrates the 50th anniversary of provincial parks.”

The Parks Reservation Service continues to be the preferred method for booking campsites in Manitoba’s provincial parks.  In 2009, a record number of 62,044 reservations were booked and approximately 66 per cent of total reservations were made online.  Group use, cabin and yurt reservations have been steady since opening Feb. 1 with bookings up 40 per cent so far.

During the first five weeks of the booking period, a number of campgrounds offer select sites that require a seven-night minimum reservation, which includes a Sunday to Sunday stay.  The campgrounds that offer these sites are Birds Hill, Camp Morton, Grand Beach, Stephenfield, Big Whiteshell, Caddy Lake, Falcon Beach, Falcon Lakeshore, Hecla/Gull Harbour, Kiche Manitou, Nutimik, Otter Falls, St. Malo, West Hawk, Bakers Narrows, Campers Cove, Paint Lake and Asessippi.

Campsite reservations can be made online through www.manitobaparks.com or by contacting a customer service representative at the call centre at 948-3333 or 1-888-482-2267 (toll-free).  Customers are encouraged to confirm online user names and passwords a few days prior to making reservations.  Forgotten passwords or general assistance are also available through the call centre.
