On Friday January 16th, 2009 at 10:15 PM two Neepawa RCMP members checked a vehicle 6 kilometres east of Neepawa on Highway 16.

The two members activated their emergency lights and stopped behind the vehicle which had run out of gas. Four occupants of the vehicle being checked were placed in the back of the police vehicle as they were being returned to Neepawa.

While police were still on scene with the emergency lights activated a vehicle traveling east bound collided with rear the police vehicle causing extensive damage.   

No serious injuries were sustained.  One person in the back of the police vehicle was treated at scene.  The driver of the offending vehicle was taken to hospital, treated and released. 

A 37 year old female from Gladstone, Manitoba has been charged under Section 188(2) of the Highway Traffic Act for careless driving.
