On April 6, 2010, at approximately 8:20pm, Brandon RCMP and the Shilo Fire Department were dispatched to a cabin fire.

The cabin was situated along the Assiniboine River near Waggle Springs Road, approximately 8.5 kilometres south of the Junctions of Highways 340 and 457. The fire was first reported by residents who permanently reside in the area.

The cabin and contents were completely destroyed in the fire and damages are estimated to be around $60,000. The seasonal cabin was not occupied at the time of the fire and there were no injuries from the incident.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this point, however, the Brandon RCMP in conjunction with the Office of the Fire Commissioner and the Dauphin Forensic identification unit are continuing with their investigation.

RCMP are seeking any information anyone may have into this fire or information relating to a tan or grey coloured newer General Motors extended cab short box pick-up truck that was seen in the area around the time of the fire.

Any information can be provided to the Brandon RCMP 726-7520 or to Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
