The Manitoba Conservation Fire Program and the Office of the Fire Commissioner remind Manitobans to be extremely careful with fire while they are outdoors enjoying the warm spring weather.

Many areas of the province have experienced localized brush fires as the ground dries out from the winter snowfall. Winds can push flames at a rapid pace, igniting large areas of land and spreading to forests.

Open fires are prohibited from April 1 to Nov. 15 annually, except under a burning permit or in enclosed approved fire pits.

Anyone with information on forest or brush fires in Manitoba is asked to call 1-800-782-0076 (toll-free).
