On April 24, 2010, at around 11:30am, RCMP Lynn Lake received a call for assistance from the Lynn Lake Hospital.
Two women had been admitted an hour prior and were both in critical condition and unresponsive. It was unknown what the two women had ingested. They were flown out of the community and taken to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg as their conditions worsened.
Later in the day, a male and a female were brought to the hospital with similar symptoms. It was suspected that they had consumed the same substances, but are expected to do a full recovery.
RCMP were able to determine that these adults had ingested liquor, hand sanitizer as well as unknown pills.
Both women remain in critical condition and the matter remains under investigation.
This is a reminder that any substance abuse can have serious consequences.
Anyone with information in these matters is urged to contact the RCMP Lynn Lake Detachment at (204)356-8862.
