Manitoba Conservation advises that recent precipitation has eased the fire threat in many regions of the province and all burning permits issued by the department are now restored.
Specific information regarding burning permit areas is available through local Manitoba Conservation offices. The burning permit area under the Fires Protection Act refers to specific forest areas the Manitoba government protects.
Manitobans are asked to be careful with fire at all times as winds can push flames at a rapid pace igniting large areas of land and spreading to forests. Open fires are prohibited from April 1 to Nov. 15 annually, except under a burning permit or in enclosed approved fire pits.
Anyone with information on forest or brush fires in Manitoba is asked to call 1-800-782-0076 (toll-free).
