The City of Steinbach is very pleased with the progress of the sewer and watermain pipe replacement on Henry Street.
The major work of replacing the pipes will be completed next week, with the resurfacing of Henry Street finished by the end of June. City Engineer, Phil Kalyta, says the project will be completed on time and both the Bethesda Hospital and affected residences have been patient and accommodating during construction. Maple Leaf Construction is the contractor for this project.
The Cedar Crescent watermain pipe renewal is scheduled to begin next week. Maple Leaf Construction should have replacement and testing of the watermain completed by the end of May, with all surface restoration completed by the end of June. Affected residences will be contacted this week by the City’s Waterworks Department as a pre-construction check of both the water meter and the main shutoff valve must take place to ensure they are both operating properly.
Asphalt overlay projects will also begin next week as part of the Citys 2010 Capital Works Program. The following streets will be resurfaced in the order listed: Beaver Crescent Barkman Avenue, between Hespeler Street Penner Street Willow Place Willow Crescent, from Main Street to Willow PlaceThe total cost of street resurfacing for 2010 is $463,000. All projects should be completed by the end of June. Bituminex Paving Ltd. has been contracted to do the asphalt overlays this year.
