On May 7, 2010, at about 1:13pm, Steinbach RCMP were informed of a large structure fire about 18 miles south of Steinbach, Manitoba in the RM of La Broquerie.
Steinbach RCMP attended the scene and observed 3 hog barns totally engulfed in flames. The scene was secured for further investigation and traffic control was implemented due to the amount of smoke obscuring the highway.
Approximately 7500 pigs were destroyed in the blaze with a total loss estimated at 6 million dollars.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner and Manitoba Conservation attended to the scene to assist with the investigation.
The investigation continues.
