Around 5:45pm, on May 27, 2010, officers from the Dauphin Municipal RCMP Detachment received a report of dangerous driving on Mountain Road in Dauphin.

The suspect vehicle was reported to have almost struck a child on a skateboard. Patrolling officers observed the suspect car on 1st Avenue N.E. and attempted a traffic stop after the car turned onto 2nd Street N.E. The car sped up and failed to stop for the officers. A pursuit ensued, which led officers out of the city and onto municipal roads. The pursuit ended southwest of Dauphin about 10 minutes and 20 kilometres later, when the driver stopped on his own. The driver and lone occupant of the car was arrested.

27-year-old Ryan Ronald Neill of Dauphin, has been charged with a number of offences including dangerous driving, flight from police, possession of cannabis marijuana and driving while suspended. Neill is to appear in Dauphin Provincial Court on May 28, 2010.

The car has been impounded for 30 days. A search of the vehicle following Neill’s arrest resulted in the seizure of a small amount of marihuana and drug paraphernalia.
