RCMP Stonewall Detachment advises that the post mortem has taken place December 16 at the Health Sciences Centre and the deceased, a 48-year-old woman resident of that home, died as a result of smoke inhalation. Her name will not be released at the request of her spouse. Her spouse, had been taken to Stonewall Hospital with non-life threatening injuries yesterday.
In addition, the cause of the fire has now been confirmed by the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner as being due to a ceramic heater coming into contact with combustible materials.
The house was a total loss.
