On June 17, 2010, acting on information received from correctional officers at Stony Mountain Institution, members of the Winnipeg RCMP Drug Section intercepted three ounces of cannabis marijuana in Winnipeg that was destined for the Stony Mountain Institution.
On the same day, RCMP arrested and charged 25-year-old Cindy Spence of Winnipeg with possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and conspiracy to traffic under the Criminal Code. Spence appeared in Winnipeg Court on June 21, 2010. 30-year-old Jonathon Statham, an inmate at Stony Mountain Institution, has also been charged with conspiracy to traffic. Statham will be appearing in Winnipeg Court September 2, 2010.
The value of the drugs seized, in Stony Mountain Institution, is estimated at over $7500.
