On January 24, 2009 around 11:00 AM Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a collision between a pick up truck and a snowmobile in the RM of Portage la Prairie.

When police arrived on scene, Portage la Prairie Emergency Services and Ambulance were already present. An eastbound truck and a southbound snowmobile collided on Rd 60 North. The truck rolled and went into the ditch. EMS had to extract one of the four occupants of the truck who was pinned in the rear cab seat.

The driver and rear passenger were transported to Portage General Hospital, where the driver was treated and released. The rear passenger, a 45 year old man,  was transferred to Winnipeg HSC due the severity of his injuries. The driver of the snowmobile, a 19 year old woman from Winnipeg, was transported to PGH and then transferred to Winnipeg Health Science Centre. 

At the time of the release, the rear passenger was still in HSC in the Intensive Care unit, in fair condition. The snowmobile driver is still in HSC in stable condition. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
