On June 25, 2010, at approximately 9:50pm, the St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP Detachment received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle from an off-duty Winnipeg Police member in the Grande Pointe area located in the RM of Ritchot.
Members attended and located a vehicle and after further investigation, with the assistance of the Winnipeg Police Canine unit, a small quantity of crack cocaine was recovered from the vehicle.
30-year-old, Paulo Sergio Martins of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking along with 3 counts of a breach of recognizance. Martins was also found to have 7 warrants out for his arrest from Winnipeg and Alberta and was remanded into custody on these charges.
The investigation is ongoing.
