All of the comments heard so far have been overwhelmingly positive regarding Steinbach’s Canada Day celebration this year.

The location was moved to the Steinbach Soccer Park, a large area which accommodates thousands of people and provides a prime viewing point for the fireworks show. Several people were commenting on how this year’s show was one of “the best ever”. Corporate Services Manager, Troy Warkentin, who is one of the people in charge of the fireworks display explained that the show itself was not very different from past years, but that it appeared and sounded more impressive because people were able to get out of their vehicles and get a lot closer to the actual show. Hundreds of people took in the free Canada Day cupcakes, glowsticks and other handouts, with over 2,000 cupcakes and 4,000 glowsticks distributed. One of the more fun jobs volunteers had was to use the City’s gator to drive cupcakes over to people sitting at L.A. Barkman Park and in the Southland Church parking lot.

The City wishes to thank all the volunteers who helped make this day so special and the fireworks crew who spent hours setting up a spectacular show for everyone to enjoy! Thank you!
