On July 5, 2010, at approximately 10:25am, Selkirk RCMP received a report of an arson involving a vehicle parked in the Power Mechanic compound at the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School located in the City of Selkirk.
School Staff alerted RCMP of the incident after locating the damage to the vehicle. A review of the video surveillance camera’s resulted in the identification of two suspects who were observed in the area during the late evening of Saturday July 5, 2010.
RCMP have arrested two young offender’s ages 13 and 14-years-old, both residents of Selkirk. Both young offender’s will be facing charges of arson, mischief under $5,000 and trespassing at night. Both were released on undertakings before a Magistrate and are scheduled to appear in Selkirk Provincial Court on August 20, 2010.
The young offenders are also suspects in the theft of property from over 30 vehicles in the City of Selkirk and surrounding area which occurred since the end of the school year in late June. Additional charges are pending.
