On July 12, 2010, at approximately 4:25pm, Selkirk RCMP along with Ambulance and Fire Department personnel responded to a two vehicle head-on collision near 6400 Henderson Highway in the RM of St. Clements, Manitoba.
Investigation revealed that a 2007 Pontiac G5 traveling southbound on Henderson Highway collided with a northbound 2007 Buick Allure.
A 36-year-old female from Winnipeg was the driver and lone occupant of the Pontiac G5. She was transported to Selkirk General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The 81-year-old male driver of the Buick was uninjured, but his female passenger was transported to Selkirk General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the collision, both vehicles came to rest against different power poles in the ditch. Traffic had to be temporarily re-routed around the scene while response crews attended to the injured parties. MTS and Manitoba Hydro were notified of potential damage to the poles.
Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in this collision, but no charges have been laid at this point in time.
The investigation is continuing.
