Two Winnipeg men, ages 18 and 23, face multiple charges after a collision in which a red 2005 Chev Blazer went off the road into a ditch on Highway 311, 1/2 a kilometre east of Highway 59.
The 18-year-old male driver was arrested for impaired driving and the subsequent investigation revealed that the Blazer had been stolen a short distance away. 18-year-old Gilbert Moise of Winnipeg, faces charges of impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, two counts of theft over $5000.00 and one count of theft under $5000.00. The 23-year-old passenger was also arrested and held in custody.
Further investigation in conjunction with the Steinbach RCMP revealed that multiple vehicles in multiple jurisdictions had been stolen and disposed of throughout the previous night. A total of five vehicles have been identified to date.
A 13-year-old Steinbach youth is also facing charges in association with the adult males regarding theft of a vehicle, break and enter and possession of stolen property.
