On August 14, 2010, at about 11pm, East St. Paul RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a break and enter in progress at a residence in the RM of East St. Paul.

Initial reports indicate a 23-year-old man who resides in the RM of Springfield was driving a 1999 Mercury Cougar on Highway 59 near MacGregor Farm Road when his vehicle went into the ditch.

The man then allegedly abandoned the vehicle and broke into a nearby home. He was badly lacerated while entering the broken window, and caused an undisclosed amount of damage while inside the residence.

When police arrived at the location, the bleeding man was attempting to flee the scene in another vehicle being driven by a family member, who had picked him up at the residence.

The accused was arrested for break and enter, and later released from custody with court documents. He is to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on October 18, 2010.

Police continue to investigate.
