On August 22, 2010, in the early morning hours, Manitou RCMP Detachment were dispatched to an assault at a residence on Swan Lake FN.
A 27-year-old adult male from Swan Lake FN was found unconscious. He was transported by ambulance to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg for medical attention as his condition was considered grave. His condition is now listed as stable but critical. The specifics of his injuries cannot be released at this time.
A 26-year-old resident of Swan Lake FN, Michael Darcy Pierre, has been charged with aggravated assault, assault, and failing to comply with conditions of his recognizance. Pierre has been remanded in custody.
Alcohol is considered to be a factor. Police are not looking for any other suspects in relation to the assault at this time.
At the time of his arrest, Pierre was wanted on an outstanding warrant for two charges of assault which stem from an incident that occurred in Winnipeg on January 27, 2008. His next court appearance is scheduled for Provincial Court in Morden, Manitoba, on August 24, 2010, at 9am.
