On August 24, 2010, at 11:24am, Carman Detachment Area RCMP and Carman Ambulance responded to a workplace accident at Vanderveens’ Greenhouses in the RM of Dufferin.
RCMP report that a 58-year-old electrical contractor had been in the process of unhooking hydro power lines from a pole in a construction site. The contractor, who was on a ladder propped up against the pole, fell to the ground due to the pole breaking. The contractor died as a result of the injuries sustained in the fall.
The incident is currently under investigation by Workplace Safety and Health.
