On September 1, 2010, at 10:30pm, Selkirk RCMP as well as local Emergency Services were dispatched to the scene of a two vehicle head-on collision.
The collision occurred on highway 202 in the RM of St. Clements near Birds Hill Provincial Park.
Investigation at the scene revealed a 1996 Ford Escort had collided with a 2006 Ford pick-up truck at the location. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and all occupants were transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The 1996 Ford Escort was being driven by a 15-year-old female from Winnipeg. Her passengers were a 21-year-old man from St. Clements, a 16-year-old female from Winnipeg and a 22-year-old man, also from the RM of St. Clements.
The 2006 Ford pick-up truck was being driven by a 29-year-old man from Selkirk.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst attended to assist with the investigation. Alcohol is not considered a factor at this time, however, speed and road conditions are thought to have been a contributing factor.
There were no other persons or vehicles reported involved in this collision.
Police continue to investigate.
