At 7:35am, September 14, 2010, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of an accident at the junction of Road 1 North (Post Road) and Highway 30.
In attendance at the scene was Altona RCMP, Altona/RM Rhineland Fire Department and Altona Emergency Medical Services.
A southbound Mack truck collided with an eastbound Chevrolet Malibu with the Malibu coming to rest in the southeast ditch.
The 71-year-old lone female driver of the car had to be extricated by fire crews removing the roof of the car. She was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to Winnipeg where she remains in stable condition. The 54-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the truck was not injured.
The driver of the car is from Gretna, while the driver of the truck resides in Winkler.
Weather, road conditions or alcohol are not considered to be contributing factors.
The RCMP continue their investigation.
