On September 24, 2010, at around 4pm, Virden RCMP along with local fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene of a lawn mower accident at a local residence.
Investigation revealed that a 21-year-old man had fallen under a lawn mower deck and had his leg severed above the knee. Witness reports indicate the man had been working near the lawn mower deck which was being pulled by a farm tractor. He fell and was run over by the mower, severing his right leg above the knee.
The man was transported to hospital, but the leg could not be re attached. He is reported to be in fair condition.
Police continue to investigate.
