On February 3rd, 2009 at 1:00p.m. RCMP from Shoal Lake, Elphinstone, Hamiota, Russell, and Minnedosa Detachments responded to a complaint of an armed man attempting to break into a Strathclair residence, following a disagreement with his former girlfriend.
Police located a distraught man armed with a rifle inside his ex-girlfriend’s residence. Police were able to successfully negotiate the man’s surrender, finding him in possession of a loaded .22 caliber rifle. His ex-girlfriend escaped from the house after the man gained entry. No one was hurt in the incident.
Various firearm related charges are pending against the 35 year-old RM of Strathclair resident.
The investigation is continuing.
