On October 30, 2010, at about 2:30pm, Leaf Rapids RCMP were dispatched to the scene of an unresponsive male in a residence in South Indian Lake, Manitoba.
RCMP attended and found 24-year-old George Joseph Bighetty of Granville Lake deceased at the scene. Bighetty had injuries that appeared to be a result of foul play.
21-year-old Johnson Norman Dumas of South Indian Lake has been arrested and charged with manslaughter. Dumas is scheduled to appear in Thompson Provincial Court on November 4.
RCMP Major Crime Services from Winnipeg and Thompson, as well as RCMP Forensic Identification Services are assisting Leaf Rapids RCMP Detachment in this investigation. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today in Winnipeg.
Police continue to investigate.
