On the evening of October 30, 2010, while investigating a Highway Traffic Act offence, Central Plains RCMP seized a quantity of cocaine.

Police on patrol observed a 1996 Ford Explorer on Highway 1A in the RM of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. The vehicle was stopped as the driver had sped through a construction zone.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the lone occupant in the vehicle was in possession of 155 grams of cocaine, which has a value of approximately $12,000.

A 21-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and will appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on January 24, 2011.
