At approximately 5am on November 8, 2010, Central Plains RCMP seized a quantity of marijuana during a routine traffic stop.

Police on patrol observed a 2010 Jeep Commander on Highway 1 at Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. The vehicle was stopped as police were conducting routine traffic stops.

Subsequent investigation revealed that 2 occupants in the vehicle were in possession of 158 grams of marijuana, which has a value of approximately $1,600.

A 51-year-old man from Hedley, British Columbia and a 44-year-old man from Richmond, British Columbia were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Both have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in Portage la Prairie Provincial Court on January 10, 2011.

Police continue to investigate.
