On November 20, 2010, at approximately 6pm, Sprague RCMP received a call of an apparent hunting accident in the RM of Piney.

Further investigation revealed that a 17-year-old male and a 43-year-old male were hunting in the RM of Piney when the 17-year-old male accidentally shot the 43-year-old male. The victim was transported to the Roseau Hospital in Minnesota, USA, and then later transferred to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg where he is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

RCMP are still investigating the matter and charges are being contemplated.
