On December 21, 2010, at about 9am, Altona RCMP as well as local Emergency Services and EMS were dispatched to the scene of a two vehicle, head-on collision on Highway 201, about 1 mile east of Altona.

Initial reports indicate a 2001 Ford Taurus was involved in a head-on collision with a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu.

The driver of the Ford Taurus, a 64-year-old man from the Dominion City area, had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel. He was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries that are reported to be non life threatening.

The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu, a 17-year-old woman from the St. Joseph’s area, was transported to hospital for observation and released.

Road conditions were reported as snow covered with blowing snow and reduced visibility.

There were no other persons or vehicles involved in this collision.

Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in this collision.

Police continue to investigate.
