On January 8, 2011, shortly after 4am, Powerview RCMP were called to a shooting incident in the Community of Seymourville, located about 100 kms north of Powerview.
The 18-year-old male victim from Seymourville, who was found at the scene, was transported by ambulance to a Winnipeg Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The investigation to date reveals that an altercation at a residence, involving a number of people, led to the shooting outside the residence.
23-year-old Kyle Richard McKenzie of Seymourville, has been charged with attempted murder and several other firearms related offences in relation to the incident. McKenzie remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Winnipeg today.
Both the victim and the suspect knew each other.
The Powerview RCMP as well as the RCMP Forensic Identification Section and RCMP Major Crime Services continue to investigate.
