On January 14, 2011, at approximately 6:30pm, Swan River RCMP responded to a break and enter in Birch River, Manitoba.
Investigation revealed that a female resident had been assaulted and threatened during the break-in. The victim fled her residence in a vehicle and was chased by the suspect on foot.
RCMP report that the victim did not require medical treatment.
The suspect was later located at his residence by police, but would not leave the house. Police continued to communicate with the suspect for about an hour until he exited the residence and was arrested by police.
48-year-old Donald Clinton Leask of Birch River, Manitoba, has been charged with break and enter and commit the indictable offence of assault, utter threats, possess weapon for a dangerous purpose, fail to comply with a probation order, fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking and 3 counts of failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance.
Leask has been remanded into Custody and will appear in Dauphin Court on January 17, 2011.
Police continue to investigate.
