The Providence College Women’s Volleyball team won the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference Championship this past weekend on March 4-5, which was hosted by Red River College.
First, Providence defeated Red River College in the semi-final 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-17). Then the team upset the three-time defending champions, Canadian Mennonite University, in a thrilling five-set win 3-2 (19-25, 25-23, 16-25, 25-19, 15-10) to win the 2011 MCAC Women’s Volleyball Championship.
“This is the second highest level of post-secondary competition in Manitoba and Providence is a local college with a lot of athletes from rural Manitoba. We are proud of this year’s team’s accomplishments,” says director of Athletics, Scott Masterson.
