On March 12, 2011, at about 2pm, Fisher Branch and Peguis RCMP as well as local Emergency Services and EMS were dispatched to the scene of a fatal two vehicle collision on PTH 17, just North of PTH 325 in the RM of Fisher, Manitoba.
Investigation revealed that a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer was northbound on PTH 17 when it collided with a southbound semi trailer.
The driver of the semi, a 58-year-old man from Dauphin, was not injured. The driver of the Chevrolet Blazer, a 38-year-old woman from Scanterbury, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
There was one passenger in the Blazer, a 45-year-old man from Scanterbury. He was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.
RCMP report that there were no other persons or vehicles involved in this collision.
Road conditions were reported to be extremely icy at the time of the collision. Alcohol is not considered a factor in the collision at this time.
Police continue to investigate.
