On March 14, 2011 at 5:45am, Thompson RCMP, along with Thompson Fire and Emergency Services, were called to a motor vehicle collision 2 miles south of Thompson on Highway 6.

A head-on collision occurred where a northbound 2010 Ford Focus collided with a southbound 1995 GMC pickup truck. Both vehicles received extensive damage.

The driver of each vehicle had to be extracted with use of the Jaws of Life. Both drivers and the passenger in the truck have been transported to the Winnipeg Health Science Center. At this time the injuries have been categorized as serious but non-life threatening.

It has been determined that all occupants were wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not a factor.

The Thompson RCMP with the assistance of a traffic analyst continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
