Saskatoon Police along with the Manitoba RCMP are conducting an investigation into a police-involved shooting which occurred earlier this week on Gods Lake FN.
At approximately 1:35am, March 15, 2011, two members of the Gods Lake Narrows RCMP were guarding the scene of a house fire on the Gods Lake FN. The members were confronted by an armed male subject. One of the RCMP members discharged his firearm. The male subject was shot and later pronounced deceased at the local nursing station.
Further details of the incident are the subject of investigation cannot be provided at this time.
In accordance with Manitoba RCMP policy, an external agency will investigate. A senior member of the Saskatoon Police Service is en route to Gods Lake FN to conduct the investigation with assistance from āDā Division RCMP Serious Crimes Unit.
