On March 15, 2011, at about 6am, Shoal Lake RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of an assault at the Hamiota Health Centre in Hamiota, Manitoba.
Investigation revealed that a patient, a 26-year-old man from Birdtail, Manitoba, had confronted a Nurse and an LPN in the facility. The man assaulted the female LPN with a weapon and then locked them both in a room. He then fled the hospital and shortly thereafter stole a vehicle.
The suspect was later located in the stolen vehicle on Highway 83, where he was arrested by police.
The Woman was treated in hospital for non life threatening injuries.
Police continue to investigate.
