RCMP have charged four individuals with drug related charges after seizing marijuana during a traffic stop near Grand Rapids.
On April 12, 2011, at about 8pm, RCMP Grand Rapids Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Highway 6, about 3 kms north of Grand Rapids. RCMP report that there were four occupants in the vehicle.
RCMP approached the driver of the vehicle and an odour of marijuana was detected from the car. All four occupants, residents of Norway House, were arrested and the vehicle was searched for drugs. Seven ounces of cocaine and drug paraphernalia was seized from the vehicle. The cocaine value is estimated at $20,000.
The female driver of the vehicle was identified as 22-year-old Alexis Swanson. The three male passengers were identified as 25-year-old Brian Cromarty, 21-year-old Allan Cromarty and 25-year-old Cody Monias. They have all been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Brian and Allan Cromarty have additional charges of failing to comply with probation. They have all been remanded in custody.
A court date has been set for April 14, 2011, in The Pas.
