On May 1, 2011, at about 3:30am, Cross Lake RCMP as well as local EMS were dispatched to the scene of a fatal accident involving a motor vehicle and pedestrian in Cross Lake FN.
Investigation has revealed that a 22-year-old man from Cross Lake, Manitoba, had been walking on a roadway when he was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado. The man was deceased at the scene.
Weather conditions at the time of the collision were reported to be snow and blowing snow with some reduced visibility.
The driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old Glindon Marcus Trout, of Thompson, Manitoba, was arrested at the scene. Trout remains in custody and is charged with a number of criminal code offences including impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death and refusal to provide a breath sample. Trout is scheduled to appear in Thompson Provincial Court on May 2, 2011.
Police continue to investigate.
