RCMP invite the public to attend the 2011 Safety Expo to be held in Portage la Prairie on Monday, May 16, 2011.

National Police Week is May 15-21, 2011. As police, we provide services involving public safety and security. While working within the community, providing such services, we work closely with many partners with diverse services that also involve public safety and security.

On Monday, May 16, 2011, a Safety Expo will be held in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, in honour of National Police Week. Local RCMP, Firefighters, EMS and representatives from MPI will be out with displays and demonstrations. As well, trained Child Car Seat Technicians from these organizations will be on hand to inspect and assist in correct installation of child seats.

Portage City Council will be hosting a BBQ at the event with proceeds being donated to the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation (PCRC). The PCRC is a local non-profit organization that provides services which includes those surrounding public safety and security. The PCRC will also be at the event with information about the services they provide, including information regarding their Safety Audits.

The event will be held in the Portage CO-OP Grocery parking lot, located at 2275 Saskatchewan Avenue in Portage la Prairie, MB, from 11:30am-1:30pm. All are welcome and encouraged to come out, check out the Expo, have a BBQ lunch of a smokie and drink for $4 and meet members from our local emergency service providers.
