In conjunction with National Road Safety Week, the RCMP Westman Traffic Services unit will be conducting a checkstop on Friday May 20, in the Brandon area.
The check stop is a Manitoba Public Insurance funded “Road Watch” project to aid in prevention of death and injury on Manitoba highways over the May long weekend.
Members from the Virden, Melita, Carberry, Killarney and Roblin RCMP Detachments along with Rivers Police Department will be joining RCMP Westman Traffic Services to conduct the check stop throughout the day.
The primary objective of the check stop is to improve the safety of the motoring public by apprehending impaired drivers, enforcing the speed limit, ensuring all motorists are wearing their seat belts and detecting vehicle defects.
