On May 24, 2011, at about 1:30pm, Fisher Branch RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a two story residence on fire in Fisher Branch.
RCMP called the Fisher Branch Fire Department to the scene. They were able to control and extinguish the fire, however, the two storey dwelling is considered a total loss.
RCMP report that unidentified human remains were found in the residence.
RCMP Fisher Branch Detachment, assisted by the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner and the Winnipeg RCMP Forensic Identification Section, continue to investigate.
The cause of the fire is not known at the present time.
An autopsy will be performed in the near future, details are still to be confirmed, to establish the identity of the person found.
There are no other reports of injuries.
