On June 12, 2011, at about 8:20am, Wasagaming RCMP received a report that a canoe had capsized near the north west shore on Clear Lake at Riding Mountain National Park.
RCMP learned that two brothers, ages 42 and 51, from the Keeseekoowenin FN Community were on board their canoe when it was swamped due to high waves.
The 51-year-old was able to hang on to the canoe until he was rescued by a nearby fishermen. The other individual could not be located.
RCMP Wasagaming, assisted by both Fire Departments from Onanole and Erickson, Park Wardens, the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner and Community members of the Keeseekoowenin First Nation continue their efforts to locate the missing man.
He is presumed drowned at this time.
The canoe has been recovered and search efforts continue today on both water and shore. The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team will also be assisting.

On June 13, 2011 at 2:40 pm, two RCMP Underwater Recovery Teams (Saskatchewan and Manitoba) located and recovered the deceased body of the missing 42-year-old Keeseekoowenin FN man in Clear Lake (north west shore) within the Riding Mountain National Park.
