On the morning of February 20th, 2009 the Winninipegosis RCMP responded to multiple break and enter calls in the community of Duck Bay.
The investigation led to the arrest of one adult male and the recovery of stolen property from a residence in Duck Bay. In addition to the stolen property police recovered a sawed off shotgun, a rifle and several rounds of ammunition.
A family dog was injured during one of the break-ins, when it was hit on the head multiple times with what was believed to be a crowbar.
Charged with numerous property and firearms related offences is Freeman Zong, 18 years old, of Duck Bay. Additionally Zong is charged with 1 count of causing injury to an animal, and escaping lawful custody.
Zong was held in custody and will appear in Dauphin Provincial Court at a later date.
