RCMP will once again be conducting checkstops throughout the Dauphin area during the Countryfest 2011 weekend.

RCMP report that traffic was lined up for approximately 3 km along PTH 10 Wednesday afternoon waiting for the gates to open at 2pm. Once open, all vehicles were off the highway within an hour.

A 21-year-old Winnipeg man, Samuel William Dixon, was arrested just before 4pm and has been charged with impaired driving and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on July 26, 2011. Dixon was en route to Countryfest when officers from the Riding Mountain Traffic Services conducted the traffic stop.

Three people were removed from the site for being intoxicated and lodged in cells.
