On July 17, 2011, just after 4pm, Selkirk RCMP as well as local Emergency Services were dispatched to the scene of a fatal two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 8 and PR 230 in the RM of St. Andrews, Manitoba.
Initial investigation indicates that a 1999 Buick was traveling west on PR 230 when it collided with a 2002 Audi that was traveling north on Highway 8.
PR 230 is reported to be controlled by a stop sign.
The driver and lone occupant of the Buick, a 71-year-old man from the RM of North Norfolk, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name will not be released.
There were four occupants in the Audi, ranging from 14 to 20 years of age. Three of the occupants were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.
An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst will be attending to assist with the investigation.
Police continue to investigate.
