This morning shortly before 9am, information was received that a 32-year-old Brandon man had left by way of vehicle with what was reported to be a handgun. A family member followed him in a vehicle and advised Police that they were headed south on Highway 10 out of Brandon.
Police were able to locate both vehicles traveling south toward the Brandon Hills Wildlife Management Area. Four Brandon Police units effectively contained both vehicles in the Brandon Hills WMA parking lot at which point the RCMP were notified.
RCMP Brandon Detachment members attended the scene shortly before 11:30am. With the assistance of the Brandon Police Service officers and two negotiators, the man was taken into custody without incident. RCMP report that an air pistol was seized.
The man has been taken to hospital. Police say that no one was injured in the incident.
The investigation continues and charges are anticipated.

RCMP have charged 32-year-old Cory Robert Gillespie of Brandon, Manitoba, with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon. Gillespi is scheduled to appear in Brandon Provincial Court at a later date.
