On August 18, 2011, investigators from the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Offenders Unit arrested 75-year-old William Rupert Astle.
Astle is considered a high risk sex offender. As a result of the investigation, he was charged with two counts of breach of prohibition order and two counts of breach of probation Order.
This arrest was the result of a result of a joint investigation conducted by the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Offender Unit and the Gimli RCMP. The offences are reported to have occurred in the Selkirk and Winnipeg Beach Areas.
The Manitoba Integrated High Risk Offender Unit consists of investigators from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Winnipeg Police Service.
Police continue to investigate.
